Thanks Kirkynut ;)

This Wednesday / Sunday I hope to finish the driver's side, and then push it out of the garage and turn in round... then you'll see how much more there actually is to do... although I know what I'm doing this time! ;)

Good productive day today! B)

Chopped the rear arch off into it's new buggy shape, rather than a lorry wheel arch!

And then added another mounting tab on the front...

And then...

... another at the rear off the bottom box section part of the rear body tub... that's a small length of L-shaped edging, so it's supporting the arch from underneath too, couple of bolts and large repair washers behind should stop those pesk trees from stealing it? ;)

I then started on the A-pillar tube... cut it to length...

And then stared at the top wondering where the hell to cut it?!

About that length? With a small scallop on the outer side?...

And a bigger scallop on this side to match the angle of the corner of the top halo hoop?...

Committed now! :(

Phew!

Shaped and ready to be welded in place B)

In place!

Bah! Remember that nasty join? better sort that out at the same time...

I did some CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) first, and then transfered that to some thin car body repair sheet, and bent the edges over so there was no sharp edge on the door gap...

Not bad for a cmplete amateur? All bend by hand with some wide mouther mole grips and some help from a hammer!

That needs gluing in place there then?...

Ooooh, yes :woohoo: , happy with that!...

Finish off the front mudguard mounts on Sunday, and it'll be ready to push out, turn round, and start on t'other side! :woohoo:

Rather than waste the whole morning...

I dug the seats out of storage...

BIG comfy seats

I forgot how big they are!

That Hi-Lift Jack JUST fits in there!

That was close! (This is with the seats right back, the way I'll need to get my legs in)

Not much room for storage here.. a tool bag, strop and rope...

I might have to make a chainsaw mount somewhere else?

Or behind my seat?...

Rear view is fine, over the spare and under the high level brake light...

And forward vision... I can just see the A-pillar tube...

It's coming!.........................

Whoops... sneak preview of the tree wires there too!

It's Sea King rescue helicopter winch cable (my kid brother used to be in the RAF!), nice flexible multi-strand stainless steel... these used to clip onto my old "Stealth" Vitara and have been languishing in the garage for a few years... so I thought I'd up-cycle them ;)

Yes, in a couple of places, and covered in iron filings from angle grinding...

... a nice new one will be fitted at the end ;)

I decided from the offset that it would be too hard to protect it during all the work... welding, grinding, inside and out...
