Sat with a can of Stella last night (as you do) and placed my order...

Changed my mind last minute and bought two hoops to my size for the roofline guard, and a right angle bend to go around the fuel filler, and one of these -

to mount the top fairlead in...

For some reason when I entered the checkout on eBay it took 20% off my total, even betterer!

If you - or anyone else on here - order off me rather than through eBay I can always offer a discount ;)

Quick sketch of the revised hoop around the roof line -

I was going to the add some sheet steel in the back bit to hold the little fairlead I have.... but as I drew it I thought, no it doesn't need it, as the winch rope will run nicely over the hooped seamless steel tube... just like one of them Ultra4 buggies (Lambert) ;)

The X strengthening in the rear of the cab...

Surprising how long it took!

Pretty heavy tube for a small welder.....

Remember to structure the weld on heavier jobs........ Root - Fill - Cap..... Makes for a stronger weld than just blasting it in and lets you run the set a little lower. Heat input is lower also which is always good news.

Looks great as always Dave, I look forward to seeing it in the summer.

it's not a small welder ;)

I inherited it when my Dad retired... (he ran a steel fabrication firm - hence it's in my blood ;) )

And had the electrician wire a proper round plug for it when we built the extension....

No eBay APP ID and/or Cert ID defined in Kunena configurationNo work on the buggy today :(

With all that's going on in the world at the moment, I decided to have a lie-in, went to visit my mum as it was Mother's Day, and then self-isolated myself in the garage making these -

Breather kit filter / ports and bracket for those with breathers that haven't got a snorkel to mount the end of the breather tube in, so these can be attached to the engine firewall to mount the end of the *8mm) breather nylon tube into... B)

Is it too early for a beer? (5pm)

... back to it today though!

I measured and cut the two rollbar hoops I'd had bent up, and then joined them together with some smaller diameter seamless tube inserts...

I then added the smaller 180 degree bend to the rear of it, and having cut and fish-mouthed the two stubs that come throught the Jimny's body rear hoop I placed the loop in place...

Looks a bit like a halo at the moment until all the other tubes are added!

You get the idea now? The loop is for tree scraping, to push branches out of the way when greenlaning, and the little rear loop is for...

... a mock-up with some blue builder's rope... so the rope that runs down in the tube under the passenger's (Alan's!) seat is static in the tube, a loop can be pulled out of the 'front' of the winch and up through the little loop on the back of the roofline, and a snatch block can be used in that loop of winch rope to either steady the buggy, or self-right it in the even of a "little lie-down" !  So as the winch spools in the rope is pulled back through the koop...

Pulled the front soft-top section back to test it fits nicely inside the roofline tree scraper and roof protection bars, and to bend the front mounts to suit... but time was ticking on by now, and the dogs needed a walk...

But then our youngest daughter appeared, with the dogs... her daily exercise trip in lockdown Britain, so I had another hour to play in my own self-isolation!... B)

So I marked a line down the centre of some 4"x2" rectangular box section...

And cut it in half! You can see where this is going! ;)

Side of the rear bed / waffle board holder!
