Hello all,
a new Jimny owner here.
I've liked the idea of owning a Jimny for about 20 years & have finally bitten the bullet & got a one!
With prices rising & the Jimny rusting so easily it was never going to get a better time.
I recently thought I had got rid the desire for a Jimny until You Tube started showing me Jimny videos again & I was back off to the adds.
I have purchased a Red (faded to pink) 2002, non-VVT, with grey interior.
It's standard & fairly complete. It is a project. It runs & drives.
The foot brake does not work at all. Just the handbrake. I have driven it a short distance (private road) and all else seems good.
It actually seems relatively rot free. Just lots of surface rust.
My understanding is it's been off the road for some time. But seems to have been dry stored.
I'm aiming to have it road legal in less than six months. I have lots of projects on the go at the moment so will have to renovate it when I have time.
I have ordered some brake parts to start. Although I haven't diagnosed the root cause for the brake failure yet. Just pedal hits the floor, no fluid in master cylinder. Suspect rotten hose or pipe.
I'm not looking to do any modifications to it. I want it to be a simple, low cost bit of fun transport.
I have polished a small section of the paintwork to confirm it will become red again!
No doubt I will be cruising the tech subjects on here looking for tips.
