That's a popular mod nowadays in my country too, although I haven't seen a Jimny with HID lenses (and it's certainly illegal according to law). You have to bake the headlight and open the transparent shell, right ?

My friend opened the headlight unit and panted black the mirror to have a better optical result.

In England that's a very very properly illegal kit

I think the standard Jimny lights really are rubbish though so I decided just to fit some Bosch 90% brighter bulbs from Halfords and they make the lights as good as you'd need certainly for on-road.

I don't really like when people with ultra ULTRA bright lights blind me so hence I didn't go mental with HID.

you can either bake it or use a blower to open it, actually is ilegal to put hid in reflector bowls that where not designed for hid anywhere i know?
but at least in many countries if you put hid projector as these is legal to have, as every BMW, infinity, land rover and mercedes have them.

Law says any alteration of the lighting system is illegal, period

Lots of people complain about HID bulbs in normal head lamps being way too bright or downright blinding lights. However, from experience, this only happens with head lamps on certain makes and models of cars. The Jimny headlights seem to work just fine with HID bulbs, while other cars' lamps simply spread the light all over the place.

I'm tempted to buy a pair of head lamps and try this conversion, it looks very cool indeed.

Edit: after browsing for a while eBay, it seems the projector contains the bulb too; if the bulb breaks, you have to crack open the head lamp again to replace it ??
