Hello, i have been dealing with a non working 4x4 system on my 2005 pushbutton jimny for 2 months now , ever since the car sat for a month and the gearbox being changed.i have replaced the 4 L switch on the side of the transfercase , and checked that the one on the back works when i tried to replace it but ordered the wrong one -> which is where my question lies:-> The switch gets propper 12V from the car-> the switch connects the circuit when pushed in ( tested via multimeter)-> the bearing is still present in the transfercase, just above the switchbut when its in the car , and i press 4x4 , the trasnfer case connects the front driveshaft, waits a second and disconects it , as if it didnt recognise its in 4x4.when i only connected the connector , and manually pressed the switch in at the approximetly correct time , the green light began to blink ( the 4wd low yellow light also blinked and beeped 3 times) , before pressing 2wd , the front driveshaft remained connected (engaged).the flashing probbably means the vacuum solenoids arent working , but what concerns me more is that i only got to that stage by manually pressing the switch.coult there be a reason the 4x4 switch isnt being triggered even tho the transfercase engages 4x4 for a second ?or is that actually not the problem here and it does now its in 4x4 but refuses to continue because of the vacuum solenoids, and the flashing is caused by inproper timing of the switch getting pressed in?i tried to trick the vacuum switch today by bridging the wires , i checked and its getting voltage ,but bridging it made zero difference,
so i think (atleast the beggining of the ) problem is in the transfer case, somehow not triggering the switch , or the switch is bad and needs to be fully pressed in for it to work? , i dont know , should i order the correct switch now to see?
im losing my marbles

Sounds like your actuator is out of position.
this sounds a bit like when mine was at least.
When doing swaps of Tcases or actuators or sometimes switches it is important to put the case in 4x4 hi first or the system can get out of position.
I have managed to swap actuators and Tcases without putting them in 4x4 hi before by manipulating the switches but this time no.
My solution is on the link below but see also how my working actuators looked inside, might be smart to check yours if this fails.

could also be a faulty actuator but try this first.
