1999 jb33w OBD2 wiring

Dear all,

I have a 1999 JB33W Jimny, When I checked the 16 pin OBD2 like connector, I see pin 7 and 9 has wires. When I check the wiring diagram, it shows only 1 wire connected to pin 9 from ECM (I checked). I'm wondering where the other k-line wire (pin 7) is connected to. Usually k-line wire should be at 12v at rest, but it is not reading any voltage (0v) Anyone has any ideas ?

I think your Jimny will only have OBD1 and will not have K-line or other OBD2 protocols.

First - are you certain the wiring diagram you're looking at is correct for your car? The FSM will usually have a short list in the first few pages detailing the chassis numbers/VINs that are covered.

The reason that I raise this is many of us have downloaded softcopies of the FSM from whatever source we can find, and they may not be correct for our specific vehicle.

Moving on, OBDII is a US federal standard that vehicles built for the US market were required to be complaint with from 1996 onward, other regulatory bodies developed similar standards, for example EOBD), many of which were based on, and are backward compatible with the US OBDII standards, but in 1999, as far as I know, only US market models would have been OBDII compliant.

TL;DR - it's highly likely your car is not OBDII compliant.
