My JB74 has 30000km (around 20k miles) and transfer box noise in 1st is not getting much worse.
Will it be worth fixing it, I'm out of the warranty period...
Thanks for your insights

If the noise you refer to is the "graunch" outlined in Q-A6G-004 & Q-A6G-008, I'm going to say no, there's also a third bulletin (BULLETIN REF: 202202015) that says the noise is "normal"

My 2019 Gen4 is on 42,000 miles, i have never had the transfer box looked at and the bzzz, when setting off in first has not got any worse than it was. I was told at the time it's normal and that Gen3 used to do it.

Thank you all.
I am aware of both the ZA + UK bulletins, the fact that ZA isn't giving a damn about it worries me.
The noise must be coming from the Hy-vo chain touching the case, so there's got to be some sludge in the oil.
Do you guys change oil at shorter intervals?
Again, thank you!

Naturally you can do whatever work you want to do to your Jimny if it provides you peace of mind. I myself tend to believe that a quiet gearbox is a happy gearbox. But in this case, neither the manufacturer's analysis nor global fleet experience indicates that the noise is a serious problem.
You asked is it "worth" fixing it? The answer from a technical/economic perspective is clearly no. But if it makes you feel better about your car, then perhaps your answer will be yes.
I feel obligated to point out that we are drifting from the topic of this thread... maybe start a new one for transfer box questions.

The oldest Gen4s have now been on the road for six years. If the chain noise were causing a significant shortening of the transfer box's service life, it would be very evident by now.I am aware of both the ZA + UK bulletins, the fact that ZA isn't giving a damn about it worries me.
