My understanding is generally the M13 and samurai Gearbox cannot go together, but I'm hoping enough time had passed that someone has some insight or has managed to do it. The M13 Gearbox is tough to come by if you have an auto and want to swap but Samurai gearboxes are a dime a dozen. Does anyone have any info on this conversion?

Different bolt pattern for sure. Are you wanting to convert an auto Jimny to manual? There will be plenty of pre-2005 (R7ME) M13 manual gearboxes about. Its the later ones (R72) that are scarce because so many of them have broken.

I would really like to get the SJ413 5 speed out of my car and rather use a R7ME gearbox and m16 engine in my SJ.
The Sammy box is not top notch.

Norway 2005 Jimny M16A VVT, 235 BFG MT, 2" Trailmaster, ARB rear lck, 17%/87% high/low gears.

Yes, all manual Jimnys up until 2005 used the R7ME gearbox. They are strong, reliable and plentiful. Get one from a car with the same engine model as yours and it will be an easy swap. I believe the bellhousing pattern is different between the engine types.
Your auto will have lower geared diffs than the equivalent manual (4.1 vs 3.9) so you will gain about 5% gear reduction, ideal for more low speed torque or slightly bigger tyres.
