Is it easy to remove the plastic panel from the outside of a door?

Hi,

I have some paint chips on the passenger side door, luckily they are in the plastic panel, but in a recent painting session, the colour match was poor.  I have new paint on it's way, but of course the weather is no good now.

How easy is it to remove and refit one of the plastic door panels?  Will I break all of the clips doing it?  Should I just wait until next year for better weather?

Depends on what you use for removing it. I have a pair of reverse action trim pliers and am usually quite successful. The plastic wedge type things I find more often than not kill clips but that could be operator error.

Thanks Lambert,

Is this what you use?

Do the clips just hold the panel straight in, none on the side?
Has anyone got a photo of the back of a panel showing the location of the clips?

That's the tool. As far as I am aware it's just on the face.

Thanks Lambert,

I have just ordered one, gone for a Silverline, it's a good deal cheaper than the Bahco and all of them were out of stock locally, so it will be a next weekend job now.

Here's a quick heads up where the little plastic clips will be (one clip under each bit of body filler!)
