Mine is sqeeking so I am buying a used rear drive shaft from a 2010 auto. It should fit my 2005 manual right?

Would it not be easier to rebuild the existing one with new joints?

Yes, when it's out of the car. But then it is faster just to put the used one on. So little time, so cold garage, so lazy mechanic.. Very little difference in cost if the used shaft is ok.

I see now the half shafts in the front axle are called drive shafts too so i might have done a linguistic blunder here? Lost in translation?
The shaft from the transfer case to the rear axle is called what?
Propeller shaft?
(very confusing when I design propeller shafts for ships and those are a bit different with a propeller attached in the rear end..)
