Servicing my Jimny - Chip on my shoulder...

Under EU Block Exemption legislation, which has been around for many years now, a manufacturer cannot force a buyer to have their car serviced by their official dealership network, and cannot refuse to honour a new car warranty simply because a car has been serviced elsewhere. However, a manufacturer does have the right to set a servicing schedule which must be adhered to.

So you need to prove it's been serviced to schedule which is the "stamp in the service book" provided by any garage. With this in mind how about a reputable home mechanics service. You get your book stamped and have the ability to stand around offering cups of tea and offering helping. It's your property the vehicle is being serviced on, so "getting in the way" is almost expected.

Just throwing in a suggestion.

I am sure they asked for it. Also pretty sure the mechanic / engineer involved is not working at the workshop any more.

No one has mentioned the tiny elf-ant in the room, the car is a "(2020 Gen 4 bought second hand with 7500km)", can, and has the warranty and service schedule (CPS Program) been transferred to the new owner?

Conditions of sale and transfer of warranty vary from country to country, importer to importer and dealer to dealer. I have seen some 5 year CPS Programs and warranties cancelled and replaced by the statutory 3 month Govt mandated warranty on used 4 wheel drive vehicles that were sold by dealers as used cars.

Very true George, you need to check.
EU legislation (again! ) requires all car manufacturers to offer a minimum two-year unlimited mileage new car warranty on all their new cars (from date of registration), regardless of any change of ownership.
If the warranty term is longer than the minimum two-year period you need to check that the warranty provider is the same for the whole warranty period. Some importers offer a longer period, but after two years the warranty is provided by the local importer rather than the vehicle manufacturer, so the terms and conditions may change.
But you are ok for 2 years if you are part of the EU (Brexit unlikely to change this, but it is possible).

Good point about the transfer of the warranty....

I will find out from my local dealer about this. Also, the car was bought in another city about 350km from here.
