when engine gets to normal temp, does not overheat the oil light comes on at tickover, goes out soon as revs increase, if left for 10/15 minutes its ok but then comes on again after running as temp rises, have changed oil light pressure switch still the same, oil at right level and looks clean, head scratch time cheers Terry
This could just be a sign of a high mileage engine, how many on the clock?
Also possible causes are a low tick over rpm or the wrong grade (too thin ) oil - what grade are you using?
Not saying its normal on a Jimny, but in the Series Land Rover world it's a normal feature of a worn engine and actually causes no issues.

As temperature increases oil thins, that is what the 20/50w means, it is the viscosity of cold/hot.
Assuming your oil pressure sensor is working correctly and it probably is and you have the correct oil in the car then it suggests that oil pressure is a little low at tick over. As Mike suggests this could be a worn engine or possibly a problem with the oil pump. It is worth keeping an eye on to see if it gets worse, if it does, something is wearing.
My old British motor cycle had an oil warning light, but previous models had an oil pressure gauge. I replaced the switch with an oil pressure gauge, but the local expert told me why they dropped the gauge, at tick over the pressure gets very low and the low readings on the gauge were disconcerting to some people.

the engine has 75,076 miles on the clock, it was dealer serviced at 72,000 miles May 2018, so think I will change the oil and filter using the Suzuki recommended 10/30 and see what happens thanks for the replies cheers Terry
