IG meter fuse was created by gsalini
Hi guys,

So this is my first post on here and it sucks to kick off with a negative. I bought my Jimny coming up to three weeks ago. Its a 2004 1.3 petrol convertible with 59k miles on the clock.

After visiting my parents in wales (I live in surrey) and on the drive home, I gave the car the beans to over take on the M4 and the engine died. Lost everything on the dash including odometer reading, only the back light remained on. I managed to coast the car into membury services and had a look at the fuse box which showed IG meter fuse being blown. So I replaced it and it immediately blew again once I gave it power. The engine will crank but no ignition. So called out green flag who couldnt fix it and got it recovered to my home address.

Whats odd is that after some head scratching the next day, I pulled out the cam shaft sensor amongst other things, one at a time to try and see if it blew. But it didnt with the cam shaft sensor unplugged. So gave it a clean, plugged it back in and the car started and ran absolutely fine.

So ive been driving the car a few days since then and it hasnt skipped a beat, until today. I had this nagging feeling that I hadnt actually found the cause. So near home I gave the car the beans (close to red line like before) once again to test if it was that and sure enough the car died on me again. IG meter fuse had blown.

I disconnected pretty much everything in the engine bay, coil packs, ECU/ECM, MAP sensors, o2 sensors, relays and even the alternator. The fuse kept blowing. I'm leaving it for tonight now and I'll have another crack tomorrow, but does anyone have any ideas? Im finding that a short in the harness is unlikely as it wouldnt have started at all.

Any help would be immensely appreciated,
Thanks!
