I'd be concerned about what that weighs, if it's sat that low you could very easily be over the maximum authorised mass. Also if you are towing with it your trailer nose weight won't help if you are close to the M.A.M. You could always get some stronger rear springs to level it up but that won't help if it's overweight.

Hi Lambert,
I considered total weight but when you consider the removal of the rear seats etc and that there is now no rear passenger consideration the weight applied is under what the car was designed. to carry.
It probably just that the rear is always under some load and balances up when the driver and or passenger gets in.

The payload for a Jimny is essentially 4 adults and a small handbag, and with 4 adults in the suspension drops noticeably. So it's reasonable to expect that sort of drop with roughly 1 adults weight of accessories.
There's no problem using it like that. It's still within the design parameters of the vehicle and it should ride a bit smoother too. But personally I'd be looking at redistributing the weight so it wasn't so rear/top heavy.

Thanks for yours and all the replies which have given me pause for thought and that’s what it’s all about.
I am confident now that when I am driving the car the rear payload distribution is about right.

I suspect the problem is not the weight, but the position of the weight.
Normal passenger and luggage weight is on the axle or slightly forward of the axle.
Some of your weight, based on the picture is behind the axle. The more distant it is from the axle the more effect it will have, remember the principle of levers from school physics.
The weight in that rear box is perhaps 0.7 to 0.9 metres from the fulcrum (the axle).
