2005 to 2018 door mirror cover - how do you take it off ? was created by Scimike
Hi All,
Has anyone removed the plastic colour coded cover on a 2005 to 2018 electric door mirror?
Trying to remove one for spraying, but it's got the feel of something that's going to break and I have removed all the screws I can see.
Any insight appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Yes. It has 4 clips i think, 2 top and 2 bottom molded into the painted cover part. It will pull off with some kind of poking tool and with the mirror folded in against the car. I have a broken one in the garage somewhere which has lost its cover and broken the black plastic surround bit, but still would show you the clip locations.
To take the whole mirror off (to do the job on the bench for ease) is just remove the interior cover (pull) and there's 2 nuts/1 wiring plug. Just make sure you have the window open to grab the mirror when it falls off. Nice and simples

Thanks Riccy,
With your help sorted it.
It has four clips, you can see the locations here, one is broken off in picture
You can get at the clips from the mirror side. If you move the mirror to it's limits you can see the clips and get a thin screwdriver in to release them.
Here is the lower clip hole visable from the mirror side
Easy when you know how.
