I remember getting in touch with Jay (via instagram) about getting a new exhaust as I liked the one you got Martin.
No response after a few weeks so had to find someone else

Hi Martin,
Still nothing, guess he is too busy to respond.
Any other suggestions of anybody local to us?

Totally amazed at how hard it is proving to find a welder!
The way this is going it would be easier to go on a welding course and do the job myself!
Anybody got a view on the best way to tackle the problem above?

The farmer in me is thinking to just beat it something like straight enough to put the heavy steel in and leave it. The engineer in me is of the opinion that you're looking at a perfect opportunity to go on a course and learn a new skill. All it would need is the end off a good chassis and a half lap joint to give a reasonable repair.

I am now at that age where I may well just treat myself to a welding course as I reckon it could be fun and given what I read on here about how much rust I should expect in the future it may well turn out to be a useful thing to know in the future!
Thanks Lambert for the response.

Fella called ChuckE2009 on you tube has some great vids (if you can bear his nasal accent). Thats how I learnt to do my poor welding. I also couldnt find any basic starter courses as such, so went down the have a go route. Not as hard as I thought to get up to a half decent standard.
Top tip would be avoid the no-gas mig welders, the extra £ for a gas one is well worth it. Stick (MMA) will be too hot for most bodywork stuff
