You are quite right the compression is indeed 10:1 which means there is just enough wiggle room to limit the boost to keep the dynamic compression at a safe level. Of course there are many factors to take into account, engine tuning has to be spot on and it may require higher octane fuel etc.
I am basically intrigued by the proper electric turbos, can`t afford or justify one, but do like the fact that they are instant full boost. It is new tech and currently seems to work well with superchargers, turbo`s and NA engines.

Yokohama Geolanders, Sony head unit, NAUTILUS Air Horn, DRL conversion, Rear cargo space, Elvis Bobblehead, transfer Guard, Indian hanging Elephant, Koni Heavy track dampers, Custom SS exhaust, Voodoo Doll, Adventure Rack with LED ight bar, vintage ERIBA caravan usually attached (yes it's slow)

I am sure it is possible to get more out of the Jimny engine, but I don't believe the solution is going to be "plug and play".
As with the previous generations improvements may be limited to some very talented individuals working on their own vehicles, or a WET "Wrong Engine Transplant" to gain more power. Lamberts suggestion is a true reflection based on what is available today for the GEN4 (and G3), but my equally unpopular suggestion would be to just live with it, drive slower (you have no choice) and enjoy.
I drive around the uk in our standard 1.3 G3 towing a caravan and it's fine so long as you accept 50-60 mph is it's limit. The queue of cars behind are not in front of me, so result

Adding a turbo will be step to far.
I was thinking about to remove the catalytic converter.
Will make a better flow on the exhaust.
Combine it with a sport airfilter and a chip (+10hp) will do the work I think.
Anyone already tried to remove this?

Removing the catalytic converter is illegal in many countries and is ethically dubious from an environmental perspective. Many tuning firms claim upto 10 pc is available for the average naturally aspirated petrol engine so I would have a look at that before disturbing the emissions control systems.

You'll have seen the rotrex engine driven superchargers.....they work well!

The electric drive one's do work quite well......got to carry some weight in batteries though.....not sure how long you'd be able to run one continuously though.Digger1 wrote: I am basically intrigued by the proper electric turbos, can`t afford or justify one, but do like the fact that they are instant full boost. As the new Jimny will be limited in Europe I think I would wait until the Aussies start playing with it. They will add winches, rock sliders, metal bumpers and the like which will be detrimental to performance. I am sure some enterprising people over there will come up with a few solutions over the next year or so.
