Transfer box mount replacement tips was created by Wright
Hiya...snapped my o/s transfer box mount today, doh!

Looks a fairly simple job of the 2 bolts that go through the rubber mounts, but the 4 on the back look a pig to get to!

Do you do it in situ, or undo the other side and lower the box?

Any tips appreciated while I wait for part to arrive!

And yes...I'll buy a bash plate lol.

Cheers in advance.

Remove the box is probably the easiest way.

Make sure you dont pull the intermediate prop out of the gearbox or you will loose the oil from it.

wiring to disconnect and undo the (remaining) bolts. Fit new mount(s) and bolt back in.

Beware the bolts will be rusty so some penetrating oil (wd40 or similar) would be advised in preparation. Breaker bar or similar needed. The bushes on the box are probs gone as well so order them too. Easier to grind them off and fit new as well ;-)

Buy heavy duty mounts from Jimny Bits or the like as standard ones break regularly.

When I fitted my H/D steel mounts, I bought rubber bolt through mountings..... Unless you want gear drone in the cabin, use new original type rubber mountings. They are much quieter.

I don't mean the bushings, I mean the direct replacement for the bit that's broken but a HD version in steel, not ally.

Yes, standard replacement rubber mounts between the car and the replacement for the broken bit. Not even the bolt through ones if you can avoid them. Carry a few spares in case they break.
