New Jimny with warped discs? was created by mikeyw85
I have a brand new SZ4. I get a steering wheel wobble when breaking from decent speeds. Tyre pressures are fine, just checked them. When looking at front drivers disc after going for a drive i noticed that half the disc had rust spots cleaned off, and the other half doesn't. Is that a sign that the disc isn't completely flat? It sure seems so yes. A warranty issue.

This is "proof" that the brakes on the new, is exactly the same as the old Jimny. :)
I gave up on mine and got vented discs for a diesel Jimny.
My SJ's where never wobbly though, even they had the exact same dimensions..

Doesn't look right to my eye. If the disc is warped then you will usually feel a pulsing action through the brake pedal under braking. As these vehicles will have spent a period of time standing dormant between build and delivery a certain amount of rust is to be expected - although it should quickly wear off under normal driving conditions - unless it's really deep pockets. Have you simply washed it and left it standing with wet discs or have the salt laden roads just left their mark. Either way it would normally wear off under braking. If they are warped then its a conversation with your dealer about a warranty claim.

i never felt pulsing from warped discs. You will feel the steering wheel shake at high speed, not at low speed.
I have had this alot. It helps to change the brake discs. For a while. Until the new ones get warped as well.
It can also be intermittent and worse as the heat build up and expansion from braking will come uneven when there is rust patches.

Storage rust is light brown. This rust was black from heat.

Whatever the rust was I thought it was normal enough. The concerning bit is that it’s only wiped off one half of the disc.
