Yes they are. Though It's possible to get a none power steering box if you look outside the eu market area.

My 2006 Jimny does not have power steering. That's just extra stuff that can break

Mine is from Finland. They sold JX and JLX levels here. Many JXs have power steering but some not.

The power steering system in the Jimny is very reliable and good. Nothing to go wrong really.
