I have a -2005 VVT Jimny.
I works great on idle but missfiers Little at 2200 rpm and over (engin run pretty ruff on highway speed)
Wher to start ?
Sprak plugs ? (pretty new Bosch)
Chrank shaft sensor ?
Cam sensor ?
Oxygen sensor bank 2 ? (seams funny volts when Reading with ODB2 reader and Torque mobil app compers with bank 1 sensor volt, bank 1 volts movs around fast all the time, bank 2 volts move litte slower up and down )
Coils ?
Cat ?
No Engine lights flasching.
No fault codes.
Regards
Nick / Sweden

Some people seem to think that these engines don't like the Bosch plugs. NGK are the ones to use .apparently. Coils can start to break down too. Unless it is a hard fault you wont get a fault light. Intermittent faults are by nature difficult to pin down.

To day i get error codes in the ODB2 Reading:
P0300 Powertrain random/multiple cylinder misfire detected
P0301 Powertrain cylinder 1 misfire detected
P0302 -#- Cylinder 2
P0302 -#- Cylinder 3
P0304 -#- Cylinder 4
No Engine light flasching on the dachboard.
On the test run today it missfirers first, then it work great for 5 minutes, then missfire cam back.

As has been said plugs and coils/leads. Plugs first as they are cheaper.

I connect the OBD reader and took a driv today.
The timing advance on idle was 10-12.5 degrease (manual says 5 (+-3))
When driving at 2500-3000rpm it was 40-50 degrease….Little to high ?
It seems like the chrank sensor is the problem ?
