Looking in the engine bay of my '55 plate VVT hardtop Jimny today and noticed the gearbox breather clearly visible - a bit easier to see as it has a 2" bodylift -
And there's my finger pointing to the end of the breather hose...
I've read before that the gearbox breather is particularly difficult to get to? But found it on my soft-top poking out of the side of the gearbox -
SO... is the elusive gearbox breather on PRE-VVT hardtop models?? :huh:

3" Trailmaster lift with 1.5 Spacers on front
Customised winch bumper and roll cage
235/85R16 Maxxis Bighorns on 16" Rims, 4:1 Rocklobster, Rear ARB locker and on-board air
Corrected arms all-round, rear disks, Recaro seats and harnesses

The key here is that you have a body lift which makes all the difference.
Here is a pre-VVT hardtop with no body lift. Whilst its visible it is so difficult to get any room to properly access it. As you can see on mine there is still the original owners garden hosepipe.
