Parking brake light come on while accelerating was created by florinelu07
Hi,
My Jimny started recently to light up the hand brake light while accelerating.
It lights up mostly while strongly accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear and it remains lit until 3000rpm.
Check the brake fluid container, no leaks and added some braje fluid to reach the maximum level.
Checked the hand brake play, even when wiggling the lever, the light doesn't come up. Same with the wire loom from the recipient of brake fluid..
No succes...
I suspect a loose wire - any suggestions?

There is a common fault with the ignition barrel on older cars that causes the parking light to stay on. Turning the key back slightly after starting the car stops it. See if this works for you. I don't know of a permanent fix other than changing the barrel.

I think this is one of the lost threads, i seems to have a recollection there was something to do with the metal tube under the hand brake console caused the problem.

Hi everyone
I've posted the finding last Friday, but the posts are missing, therefore I re-post the solution...
10mm metal stud/foreign metal part was captive in the handbrake console, near the hand brake switch.
When accelerating, it was barely moving but sufficient to create the issue. I've removed it and now everything works just fine.

I was a bit worried since the manual indicated ABS and/or brake system failure (best case is that brake fluid is low into the pump reservoir)
