If there's nothing more to the iridium plugs than longevity why would suzuki specify them for such a cheap runabout as the Jimny, wouldn't they be looking for a cheap option to reduce production costs? Saving a pence here and there per unit on a production run of tens of thousands equals a significant increase in profits.

No idea on the technical side, but it would be one less thing to do at service. This would equate to either more profit per hour on service or a shorter service time with the saving passed on. I believe they are not the easiest to change, though I've not done it yet...I would favour the first one!

You tell me! I'm guessing its for wider service intervals. 45,000 miles between plug changes.
