noise from front wheel was created by mag
Hi, my 2004 Jimny has recently started making a loud clicking sort of noise coming from the front driver side wheel, it happens on the same stretch of road which is down hill, the noise seems to be in time with the wheels turning, when I slow down to a stop to investigate, the noise suddenly stops just before the vehicle is stationary, as if something has disengaged? The brake discs are not in great condition but I'm not sure if it's related to that or something worse like the transmission. Any advice would appreciated, Thanks. It's standard other than off road tyres.
David Thompson It's only that hill which is about half a mile while from where I set off from, I think it tends happen when I've set off from cold, if I try repeat it immediately to hear it again it doesn't happen the second time.
I had this, well similar. I had BFG A/T tyres and this bloody click click click, fast as I went faster and slower when I went slower, then nothing for ages, each time I left my house it started but after a mile it stopped. Drove me mad, then a kid said, "stone in tread" bastard kid got it right! I looked a knob!
David Thompson First time it happened I thought something big stuck in the tread and hitting wheel arch as wheel turns but nothing there when I looked, thought it was a one off but it seems not. It's a grating /clicking noise.
Mark Godbold mine does similar , quite loud , then under 20mph stops , sometimes doesn`t do it at all, seems worse if not used for a while , applying brakes makes no difference , but under 20mph , always stops
James Baldwin Stone in the tyre
David ThompsonDavid Thompson Sounds similar, when braking the noise doesn't sound any different. Just can't understand how it's not become apparent what it is, it can't be doing it much good! Ahh well.
Mark Godbold i can`t find what it is , swivel joints maybe , will get worse or wheel fall off !! then be easier to diagnose and fix!!
above is post from another site , any ideas

could be a problem with the magnet in the hub not holding the splined collar in position
remove the offending hub and drive the same road that's my advice
