Grinding while driving

Mine was grinding, in 3rd initially, but spread very quickly to other gears. The countershaft beating has collapsed on mine. Haven't pulled off anything else yet to see if any others have gone. Very likely to be caused by the leaking prop shaft. I haven't replaced mine and keep the gearbox topped up but I suspect the previous owner didn't. Just taken the bearing off....

Do you reckon mine sounds gearbox related? I guess that's expensive too? Uh oh!

It's so hard to tell by describing sounds. Mine wasn't a "I noticed a grinding noise", more of a "Oh christ, what's that grinding noise!". That bearing is about 25 quid. It's just the faff of getting the box off that's painful.

Oh ok, so nothing too horrendous I guess... mine is more of a metal scraping together kind of sound... it's as if you're running two brake discs together.

Also, what's weird is that it only seems to happen at 2k revs in 2nd and 3rd... low revs it doesn't make a sound and neither at high revs...
