Winch Options was created by Venter
There are loads of options out there as far as winches go, and all looks a bit confusing to the novice. Here are a few of the options I've found. Anyone have any experience of these and/or recommendations.
Budget is the upper £300's as a stretch, but prefer it closer to the £300 mark. Am thinking that a good approach might be for steel cable, which might indicate that the manufacturers haven't cut corners on the winch itself? I can then upgrade to dyneema/synthetic at a later stage. Other webites/vendors with good deals that you know about will also be appreciated...
T-Max EW-9500
Warrior Spartan 8000
Warrior S8000 Samurai
Warrior C9500 Samurai
Superwinch Tigershark 9500
I'll be using it to recover just myself, as I'm tired of getting stuck or being too cautious to traverse certain sections on work-sites.

Just a thought, if the budget is tight maybe look at a lower line pull. You don't need 9500lbs to recover a Jimny
unless you are in a bog with a non-running engine.
You can always use a snatch block to half line speed but
double the pull rate.

That's a good point there. I was thinking with regards to any assisting bigger vehicles at pay-and-play days in the future, but since the snatch block can see to that, a smaller winch is definitely an option.

1066Boy, as a side-track to the topic, are you happy with the Wizerd recovery points? I've got a friend visiting from South Africa in February and was considering getting him to bring a set over. How much did the package weigh approximately?

I have used them all season in competition without problems. I like the design of the large round lug on
the end that slots into a pre made hole in the chassis. They are designed to come through the bumper
like most others. I did not want to make a hole so hung them low and bolted to the crappy standard points.
Not the best place and was thinking of moving them but have had them there all year without problem.
Cant remember the weight but around 1-2 KG approx.
