3" Lift Requirements was created by Venter
Hi Folks

Am looking at getting a Trailmaster 3" lift. As it's not an extreme lift, would getting castor-corrected bushes be sufficient, or would the bare minimum be castor-corrected arms?

I'd imagine that extended brake lines and a prop-shaft spacer are also on the cards?

Anyone else with 3" lifts (ideally also the Trailmaster one) that can tell me what I want to hear, that "no, you don't need any of that, it'll all be fine..."

I might just look at the 2" lift if costs start adding up, but would be nice to go straight to 3" in order to future-proof it

I would advise you to not getting the Trail Master 3" lift.
The springs are of the same length as the 2" diesel springs. But much stiffer. Also there are no shocks that match these springs.

As such it is not sold as a complete kit but only the springs.
And they are very stiff. I'm considering getting new springs, as even with a heavy twinmotor winch and winchbumper, the front end still too stiff.

These springs are only for a diesel Jimny with heavy winchbumper and a very heavy winch installed. And perhaps also 2 batteries under the bonnet.

Thanks for the info Tom.

I might then just buy the Trailmaster dampers, and then get some other springs like KAP. Anyone know if the KAP springs are a bit softer? Other suggestions?

My Jimny is unmodified, so no extra weight at present, although will gradually be getting bits and pieces added, starting with the Jimnybits recovery points, F & R.

I can only recommend getting springs from Trail Master or any other of the well known brands that make springs specifically for the Jimny. They usually list lengths and spring rate. Unlike most other suppliers of cheap springs. Like KAP, Jimnybits and such.

But you wont get a massive 5" spring lift or such, if that's what you're after :)

But to answer your question. I'd probably get Jimnybits springs instead.
You could also consider Zanfi springs. They come in a good variety of lengths and also progressive. But like many others of unknown rates.

I''ve been looking at some combinations, and for £560 I can get the Jimnybits springs and the AVO adjustable dampers from them too.

Anyone with input on what's vital for a 3" (intermediate) lift, such as prop spacer, castor correction arms, brake lines? I'll be using the vehicle for forestry survey work, so no major obstacle course just yet, and can probably leave roll bar hooked up.

Over time, so that I can also go to pay-and-play or club events, I intend on doing everything that's needed, but I'm hoping to avoid too big an initial cost. Hence my questions...

If it is helpful, I added a table comparing springs at this link:

www.bigjimny.com/index.php/forum?view=to...9920&start=12#164914

My memory is that none of these claim to provide 3 inches of lift but at least this gives some data that may help a decision.

If you make a final decision to go 3 inches or greater, research would suggest that you will need all that you list along with adjustable panhards. I'm sticking with the OME for diesel, so I would defer to anyone that has actually done a 3inch.

I started out with nothing & still have most of it left
