Has anyone ever had the fault code p0171 system to lean code if so how did tou rectify the problem getting a very strong whiff of petrol when the roof is down hoping this is the problem thanks in advance

DTC P0171 Fuel System Too Lean
• Vacuum leaks (air drawn in).
• Exhaust gas leakage.
• Heated oxygen sensor-1 circuit malfunction.
• Fuel pressure out of specification.
• Fuel injector malfunction (clogged or leakage).
• MAP sensor poor performance.
• ECT sensor poor performance.
• IAT sensor poor performance.
• TP sensor poor performance.
• EVAP control system malfunction.
• PCV valve malfunction.

The smell of petrol is the first fault to trace and that should hopefully answer the message problem. Is the fuel cap sealing ok?

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Check for a fuel leak from where the pipes corrode at the bend under the driver's feet.
