1999 Jimny does not start the engine was created by dimitrov
Hi everyone, I am sad to tell that I have problem with my lovely Jimny - it does not start. The actual model of the car is 1999 Suzuki Jimny JLX 16V, 1328CC Petrol, 3DR, Manual. I was told that the problem is in the engine ecu kit and I am seeking to replace it. Has somdoby ever had similar problem? Am I on the right direction or I am wrong? What would you reckon? Please find below a picture of my parts - if someone has the same will be much appreacited.
Many thanks

Would need more info on checks carried out before the decision was made that the fault was the ecu. Please advise so that we can hopefully point you in the right direction.

My car is the year after and it has an immobiliser. If the battery is disconnected and then reconnected it sometimes wont start. If the immobiliser button is flat (doesn't cause the indicators to flash etc) that can be the problem. Replacing the batteries in immobiliser and then resetting the immobiliser as per instructions in owners manual may help.

Thank you very much ZookFastback.
Basically my Jimny has been exported to Bulgaria and is driven now by my father in low. When he got with the problem he brought the car to a garrage and they told him it was probably the engine ecu kit. He has tried to find a replacent part in Bulgaria but without any success, he found a similar but when they mounted it the car still did not started. So if you say the problem may be in the immobiliser it sound good to me, we can try to do what you suggest. The point is I should explain him what to replace and how to reset it by skype. Could you please give me some more hints where exactly are the batteries in the immobiliser and what must be done in order to reset it after battery replacement? Is the immobilser of your car same or similar to mine? These are the parts we have in our Jimny.

Much appreciated.

There are no batteries for the factory immobiliser. You need to pull the fault codes from the ECU and from the immobiliser.

Some Suzukis and a bunch of motorcycles.
