Rear prop shaft trouble...I think was created by M19CHG
Over the last week or so the Jim has started to make a chink" noise when going from reverse to first, or just pulling off! Looking at the prop there is a lot of grease on the underbody of the car and the transfer box end seems me as though there is some sort of gaitor missing? (See pics)
I think it's time for a new shaft, but any help I would appreciate

It's a cv inside and the boot does sit in not external. Afiak it is possible to clean and repack the cv but you'd have to modify a traditional style boot to fit as you can't get a replacement boot.
I also doubt it's the cause of the noise.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

The noise can be caused by loose bolts or worn bushes where the trailing arms bolt to the axle.
Also worth checking that the axle tube isn't breaking at the weld next to the diff housing (the Spanish ones fall in half quite often*)
Hey you live near me
*As in they often fall in half, but only the once
