Thanks but it was one of the first things I tried. It got a bit 'odd' before it got too dark to work. using a pin and my multimeter I've not found a break and only have 500mm of wire left to check. My plan tomorrow is to stop messing about and just cut the wire at the two points that were last checked. Splice in a new piece and leave it at that.

Luckily when I had the problem swapping the fuse fixed it no way could I be arsed messing about with putting new wires in lol

Hahaha!!! I'm a semi qualified electrician and still wouldn't want to do that lol did you manage to sort the lights in the end?
