4 inch shocks on 3 inch springs was created by maltesejimny
Would it be wise to fit 4inch shocks for more articulation but have 3 inch lift springs? will it effect the ride using this kind of setup?
cheers

No reason to do that.
Articulation will still be limited by binding of the bushes.
Also, with 4" lift shocks and 3" springs. The springs will fall out if shocks fully extend.

No they don't, I have above set up and have never had a spring fall out, and you do get extra articulation as it is the shockers that limit it, I also have rear shock relocation brackets on too so will be over 4".
Each to their own, I like my set up and it works, others like equal size shocks and springs.

So because you alone experiences something different it is how it is?
If your shocks are so long that the springs are not seated properly during full extension there is a pretty big risk the springs will fall out if not using spring clamps. And that's how it is if you do a bit more serious offroading that greenlaning.
Of course you have more suspension travel with a 4" lift than with a 3". but the articulation is the same due to bush binding.

Yep, that's how it is..... In my experience, but as said each to their own, and the op asked if it would be ok to use said setup for more articulation, not if it will get more than a 4" lift kit, (don't know where that's come from)
And I've done very little green laning, just RTV competitions and punch events, so Don't know how much more serious you can get? I don't pussy foot around it gets used to its full limit, I simply put my experiences across to the op which you seem to taken offence to going by your wording of your last post,.
As for alone experiences all the jimnys that enter in the comps we go to also run this setup, suprisingly non of them have lost a spring either.
I look forward to another patronising reply :silly:

Patronising.. why?
I'm fairly certain the reason why you dont loose any springs is that your bushes don't allow for enough articulation for the springs to become loose and fall out.
Me mentioning greenlaning was not to offend anyone. Just to point out the fact that it is less likely for this problem to occur.
