The issue is a strange griniding noise which seems to come from the transfer case. However, i've taken the car to a local garage (since there is no suzuky official garage around me) and they say it might be the front differential or fron axle.
Anyhow, here's what happens, maybe someone can shed some light. In normal drive, 2WD no noise. In normal 4WD, no noise, all almost fine. But the noise can be heared if I disconnect the transfer case with the lever and leave the front wheel hubs connected (the vacumatic system has failed, I am using manual hubs). So, with the front drivetrain engaged by the wheels I get a loud griding noise, and it seems to come from the transfer case. If I couple the transfer case lever the noise instantly dissappears. Sometimes, in 4wd the noise can be heared if there is no tension on the drive train (free rolling, for short periods of time).
Any ideas? The service wants to change the bearings inside the transfer case, but they say this might not be the issue - could be the front differential which is quite expensive. I'd like to hear some oppions, if it's worth the money to change the TC bearings.
