I have been trying to work out the compatibility between axle parts from various suzuki 4x4s and haven't been able to find a definitive resource. Is there somewhere I could find this information?

I'd like to know which carriers fit in which third members, which crown wheel and pinions are interchangeble, which lockers can be made to fit where etc.

I know there is a lot of options for swapping between Jimny rear, vitara front and SJ413 front and rear diffs, but what about Jimny front? Are the crown and pinion the same as the rear? The side gears are 22 spline but is the rest of the diff the same as the rear/SJ/Vitara?

I've read Dave (S200KYS) thread on fitting a Vitara LSD in a Jimny front axle which was very helpful but there's still lots I can't work out!

Rockwatt had to machine my front (Calmini LSD) crown wheel carrier down to get the crown wheel to line up properly with the pinnion, so it wasn't a straight swap...

See how the carrier has been machined down quite thin to get the crown wheel in the right position?

... but he made it fit of course! B)

I also had to widen the slot in the diff mounting flange in the axle slightly to to get the crown wheel into the axle...

It's in though! :cheer:

Replied by Rockwatt on topic SJ Vitara Jimny diff compatibility.
Jimny front diffs are high pinion and are only fitted to jimnys and coil sprung samurai's/sierras the carrier is is smaller and bearing journals are also smaller.
If your looking for a resource of all the info you could try drilling into my head lol ! might be scary what you find in there! Some say..........

If you ask a specific question then I'm happy to answer but I simply don't have time to do a complete breakdown sorry .

So Rockwatt, from what you did with Dave's LSD it seems with a machined Jimny front crown wheel and 26 spline half shafts the larger diff carriers can be fitted into the front axle?

Is there any way to fit a lock right in the front and keep 22 spline half shafts? I'm guessing not without machining new side plates for the diff.
