The screaching noise is the clutch release bearing dry of grease. On it's own it's not a real issue and they can go for tens of thousands of miles like that.
The rattling noise might be solved by tightening the cable slightly. It only needs a half turn to make a difference.
Does the car get much use or does it sit for periods of time?
