Jimny alternator upgrade was created by rhys15
What alternator upgrades are out there for the m13A engine?
Running a standard goodwinch tds and an odyssey pc1500 battery, looking to upgrade to a more powerfull alternator to keep the battery topped up when doing lots of winching
What have other done?
Thanks

Haven't done it yet myself but it seems the EF/EL Ford 110 amp alternator is a popular choice. Good info here:

Looks complicated that conversion, got to change the water pump pulley, the Crank pulley and a new belt.
I think that I'm going to go with the vitara v6 alternator 96amp and it's a straight swap

How complex it is depends on your year of Jimny. If you have a newer (I think post 2005) Jimny, it will already have the multi groove pulleys. All you would need to do is the Mitsubishi alternator and fusing. The fusing would need to be done with any high amp alternator swap.

as zukebob said the conversion is very easy for your jimny, i think the biggest part is removing the pulley from your alternator, drilling a larger hole in it & then fitting it to the falcon alternator.
a lot of the info in that thread is for sierras etc which only have V belts, not multi-groove which is required (& your jimny already comes equipped with).
be sure to hook up the sense wire & use a bigger fuse, someone on there had a catastrophe due to not doing those 2 things.
