Speed sensor wire? was created by Gerula
I'm about to install an old Alpine head unit into the Jimny and I need to connect it to the speed sensor of the car. Is there such a wire/plug somewhere in the early Jimny's dash? (mine is a 98)

I'd rather not mess up with the ECU (as in using the speed sensor pin in the ECU plug to tap a wire and so on) :)

Thanks. Is there any wire somewhere in the dash or I need to run one from the sensor?

From what I gather the one wire that needs to be connected to the head unit is a pulsed ground that is fed to the ECU so I need to do a proper job with the identification. :)

Apparently this is how the connector on the transfer case looks like (not sure if there's only one model). Anyone familiar with the pinout? :)

I have had a look on the cd's of the Maintenance manual but the circuit is not shown unfortunately as far as I can make out.

Yep same here... except it's part of the floor circuit ... L19 is the connector for Vehicle Speed Sensor.

It should be the Yellow with the green trace entering the Speedo.

Link to wiring diagram - you should be able to download it

Thanks :) . I'm guessing it would be safe to make an Y junction on it before it enters the instrument cluster, right?
