Jimmy 2003 Dohc timing marks and crank pulley nut was created by Johntom
Hi
I'm attempting head gasket replacement on my 2003 Jimmy DOHC.
I've spotted a small notch on the crank pulley but are there any timing marks on the camshafts/cam sprockets ?
Also the crank pulley has to come off to remove the timing chain cover, any tips on removing it?
Thanks

The traditional way is to put a ring spanner on it, with the free end wedged under the chassis rail on the drivers side, then blip the starter.
You might find this difficult with the cam chain dangling, so plan b is to jam the flywheel ring gear somehow from underneath through the tinplate cover on the bell housing.
Plan C is to make up some sort of tool as I believe there are bolt holes in the inner pulley for just such a situation.
Always crack the crank pulley nut before you take the engine apart if you know you want the pulley off.
IIRR Ed China has a special levery spanner thingie that engages the teeth.
If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

Hi
I have removed the inlet and exhaust manifolds but the cam chain is still untouched. Will the force from the starter motor crack the nut or does the engine need to start for a second ?

Isolate the ign and fuel. If you have a impact gun then 17mm socket and bingo, with the rad out of course. I did my daughters fan belt(again) on Sunday and changed the pulley and used a new bolt to refit. Took about one hour, but the sun was shining!

Does anyone where the fuel pump fuse or relay are on a 2003 1.3 dohc ? Can't find anything labelled as such in the fuse box under steering wheel or under the bonnet
