Battery/Car issues was created by ilovearty
Recently my Jimny started playing up. For example When you charge the battery put it back in the car drive around for 30min everything seems fine, but when you stop it the car wouldnt turn back on (selenoid makes clicking sounds) unless you charge the battery again for like 10min. The lights work fine (high beam/low beam) when the engine is not starting. Except for the interior light and stereo they dont power at all?
Any help will be much appriciated,
thanks

I agree with the above.
When a battery is on it's last legs it can't hold a charge for long. The lights pull about 15A with the engine off and a failing battery can sometimes manage that, but the starter motor will pull over 100A and you're wringing it's tired neck

Most batteries last about 4 yrs so if yours is approaching that chances are that is the problem.
You generally find cooler weather shows up a duff battery.
If you haven't got the kit to check the battery most places will test it for you.
There is also the chance that if the battery is known to be fairly recent then you'll need to check that the alternator is charging the battery.
The other more remote issue are,as posted, the connections to the starter/solenoid as these can corrode and form a barrier stopping the battery getting full voltage.
Start at the battery checks first though.

A lot of garages will load check the battery to confirm its condition for you if you ask. It takes a second or two, just a matter of lifting the bonnet and putting the load meter across the terminals. They would also check the output of the alternator whilst they are on.
