Help identifying the correct ball joint please. was created by NineCherries
Could someone clarify the size / or proper name for the ball joint immediately attached after the steering box (pitman) arm please.
It has a bit of play on it but I'm now sure what to search for.
If my description is crappy I'll take a pic tomorrow to explain it better
Thanks in advance.

The rod that goes from the steering box to the nearside hub is the drag link. The rod behind the axles that connects to both hubs is called the track rod.
The ends are the same for both but are handed. You need to work out if it is left or right hand thread by seeing which way the lock nut loosens. (right hand screws in/tightens when turned clockwise).

The parts are in the shop.....

As had been said, you have to identify the thread required. They should follow a standard (i.e. left side of car or right side of car) but it is possible (and I have seen it) for the links to be put on "upside down" so that the wrong end is on the wrong end if you see what I mean.

Thanks chaps. It's the drag link.
I'm still getting used to jimny terminology.
I'll have a look on the shop links Martin

Personally I'd buy one of each and replace them both for the sake of £15. Sure as eggs are eggs the other side will go soon after you've replaced one.
