Hello!

I'd like to ask your opinion on the proper use of the JimnyBits Rear HD Recovery Tow Points as most of you guys have a greater experience in this field than me.

I've recently installed the tow points in my car, here are some pictures of it:

I was talking with some friends about the proper use of the tow points and they seem to have a different opinion than me, but I'm not very sure if they are completely right as I've seem some videos using them the way I imagined.

Basically they say I should just use one tow point to strap the recovery rope, the one that stays closer to the vehicle we are going to help, something like this:

But in my mind the proper way to use it was like this:

Where we use both points together with a small recovery belt and than we use the recovery rope in the middle of the belt.

In my mind this would help to even the force on the car's frame, but some friends pointed that in that way it's possible to force the farm to "close" to the center, as we will be applying a force in the sides of the frame in direction to the center of the car.

Something like this:

Where the "X" would mark the direction into which the frame would bend.

For them we would need to add a structural strength in the end of the frame, like this:

So, any thoughts on this matters? What would be the best way to use the recovery points?

Thanks!

I have always used a bridle (small recovery belt ) to tow from both chassis legs but they have been on a strengthened tow bar / winch bumper and not direct to the chassis, just put a spreader bar across between the frame to stop the SQUEEZE ?

That's my doubt, if I use it like this I'd really squeeze the frame?

Haven't really try it.

Thanks!

If you use a long strop (3m+) between the 2 towing points it will lessen the squeezing force. 2 is always going to be better than 1.

Given the fact that it bolts to the body right at the ends of the chassis and the rear cross member is not that far forward I doubt it would pinch.
