If in doubt ...... Flat out ??
Fault code P0031 was created by skywalker65
Hi all,
Another Noobie question for the collective.
Usual story .. Engine check light on so read the fault code and got the above code P0031 which states its HO2S heater control circuit bank 1 .
I can clear the fault but it comes back on after ignition off then on again and the car running .
I'm assuming it's a lambda sensor issue.
Mine is a VVT model and has 2 sensors. 1 in the exhaust manifold itself and the other further down towards the other cat.
Any ideas to which one the fault code is referring to please ??

Found this if it helps...
Possible causes
- Faulty Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 harness is open shorted to ground
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit poor electrical connection
- Heated Oxygen Sensor (H2OS) Bank 1 Sensor 1 circuit fuse
- Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)
Tech notes
The code means that there is a problem with the heater element circuit of the heated oxygen sensor. Water getting inside the heated oxygen sensor connector can caused the heated oxygen sensor fuse to blow, which is a very common problem for this type codes. Before replacing the sensor, check for the condition of the heated oxygen sensor fuse and connectors.

Thanks Fossie.
Is the fuse for the heater located in the fuse box next to the battery.
Only got the car recently and still finding my way around it

Bank 1 should be pre-cat

Sorry, I'm in the same boat as you! I'm relatively new to the Jimny.

If it suddenly breaks, go back to the last thing that you did before it broke and start looking there

It is the one on the exhaust manifold, a new one is £20 on eBay, £40 if you want a cheap one that says denso on the barrel.
The £20 ones work fine for years, mine has had one for 5 years and passed MOT yesterday with lambda 1.00.
You have to cut your plug off and crimp the wires from the new one to the old- don't cut the plug end too short in case you have to do it again.
