Cam sensor and crank sensor was created by sapatilhas
Cam sensor and crank sensor what do they do?
I´ve a problem in my 1998 jimny, when i drive 2,5 klm in the morning and i´ve to stop in a roundabout to change direction it revs up at about 2000 rpm and it takes a lot of time to comes down again the engine is already warm because i warm it up for a few minutes before I start the trip.
Any sugestions?
By the way I live in Portugal and would apreciate your concern.
Best regards.

The cam and crank sensors tell the engine control unit at what position the engine is in, it uses this info for pretty much everything, fueling ignition timing etc.
I can't really help with those symptoms, but when my crank sensor went it would cause the engine to cut out completely.
If its revving up on its own, I would check that the engine isn't sucking in air somewhere after the throttle flap.
( the vacuum pipe for the 4wd could have come off or perished? the vacuum comes from the inlet manifold)
Hope it helps abit.

Hi.
Thank you very much for your interest, I`ll check the vacuum pipe as you say and than will let you know the result.
Nice weekend.

This has nothing to do with the cam or crank sensors and is something to do with the amount of air or the engine's perceived amount of air entering the engine. So check for leaks in vacuum pipes etc. I've read about egr valves being problematic recently.
