Hello, I'm new. Go easy on me :)

I've got a question- to stop the 'bounce'- I guess its a sort of fidgerty(?) ride that happens on the road. Are there specific shock(s) that you can fit aftermarket that help calm this? I dont need offroad shocks etc and I know dropping the tyre psi's helps a bit.

Anything else? Thank you.

Ps- interms of costs what to expect and.... anywhere garagewise that you'd recommend in the NWest (Manchester).

It could be you old shocks have had it? If so just get new replacements. Check them for oil leaks and maybe remove the bottom bolts and test for resistance/damping

Gold Jimny the best colour (sold) :(

Big red Jimny 32" tyres, arbs, cage 5:1 transfer etc. (Sold)

Grey pick up Jimny
Turbo m13a, arbs, floating rear shafts, disc conversion rear, vented front conversion. 245 70 16. Winch, 3" lift, 4:16 trans hd shafts and CVS

It may just be a matter of putting new shocks on. The old ones could be worn out.

In that consider Koni shocks. They are probably around the same price as original Jimny shocks, but a far better ride :)

The Jimny is a small, lightweight car with a high unsprung mass (heavy wheels and axles), so it will always feel fidgety on the road compared to most things! It could be down to worn shocks, but it could just be because that is how they are...

Thanks guys :)

Another question - is it possible to space out the wheels (increase the track) to aid stability - i.e. with standard shim spacers (or do you need to do abit more work on it to make it effective). I was thinking by about 10-20mm overall if possible?

Ps. I love tinkering with cars :D

mine have always felt "jumpy". a friend of mine says it's like a nervous chiuahua.
the petrol one even more so, because it's lighter.
but i notice that with both cars, after a while i stop noticing it. at first it's like the shocks are rock solid, but after a while you start to feel them a lot softer. it's just a matter of getting used to it.
you can add spacers to it (in my country the MOT's are very much against them, so you have to make it stealthy), but you can also replace the rims for a set or rims with some offset.
personally, i dont feel much at ease with that becuse i fear the extra width on standard axle will exert too much pressure on the axle and bend or break something
