3" lift without castor corrected arms? was created by thompo
Hi folks
I'm looking to lift my Jimny but trying to keep to a budget.
What issues might I encounter if I was go for 3" lift without fitting corrected arms?
I know the steering won't self center but will it do anything to the drive train?
Thanks

The drive train will be fine. I ran a 3 " lift for years with no castor correction.
The issues are that the steering is light and doesn't self centre fully, the springs go in an arc so make pinging noises and the rear shocks hit the springs and dent. Oh and you need the rear shock spacers to stop shock bushes eating themselves. Rhino Ray does the best design. They effectively lengthen your shock by 1-2", so you need shorter shocks or a way of retaining your springs to stop them falling out. ORA used to do spring retainers. See if Bits4vits or the Bigjimny shop still have stock.
So the only damaging issue is the rear shocks, however, you can space those out with large washers to clear the springs , leaving you with just the non damaging issues to live with.
