Redoing the vacuum system was created by Brownie
Hiya everyone, just bought my first jimny(standard). The problem is that it won't engage 4wd read all the posts about the sj hubs but have decided I'd rather have the vac system, personal choice, so has anyone redone the pipes with the silicone vacuum pipes. And if so how difficult is it, do you just follow the pipes and keep running the hose the same way
Many thanks

When I first bought my 2wd Jimny I had to replace the whole of the pipework....I used 4mm nylon and followed the original route of the pipe....I meant to change it to something more permanent but it's still the same 3 years later.
One thing I'd check is that the inner wheel bearing seal is in good condition as mine ingested half of Wales.....needless to say the seals were almost completely missing.
With the benefit of hindsight and knowing what I know now....I'd keep the vacuum but will be keeping an eye on the seal!
There's a .pdf on the site with the vac system diagram on it.

It's what it is I can get the silicone hoses for about £20 so I'm debating it. How much did the seal cost Aswell as I may Aswel do them while I'm at it

Check your wheel bearings too! Movement in the bearings = leaky/worn seals.
But changing the pipes is definitely a good idea and easy enough to do. Make sure you have a good means of securing the hose along the axles- the existing steel pipes don't have many attachment points. You could even leave the steel pipes in place and cable tie the silicon to it?
