Question for Richard/Rockwatt, The unpainted rear axle shows that its been heated along the top, Was this to de-stress the axle tube after welding the gussets/strengthning to the bottom?

It's been fettled just a tad.

No just to shrink the top to pull it strait after all the welding on the bottom.
