Evening Gents,
How much of a git is it to change the radio on a 2001 jimny JLX? Having just bought a untouched rust free 40,000 mile jimny i was beginning to wonder what was wrong with the truck. Turns out its the radio! Its a stock cassette set up that's intermittent and i want upgrade to a radio with Bluetooth. Anyway is it difficult to do and what needs to be done to get it out?
Many thanks, Willem

There are two screws in the bottom of the surround and one in the top middle. Whip the front off and take the radio out. If you need a conversion to iso connectors I have one I can post you. Saves chopping wires etc

It's a standard car headunit and very easy to swap. You will need the right removal keys to get it out (or a bit of ingenuity) but once out, any new single din headunit will be plug and play.

Remove the removable faceplate, unclip the plastic surround, you need a pair of release keys ( clarion etc) either side of stereo, to pull out your old unit. Remove the old cage which locates that particular unit, replace with the cage for your new head unit, plug in your new unit, making sure it has the correct live feed for the faceplate memory, slot it in till it clicks, fit the correct plastic surround, clip the faceplate in..... & you are away. Alternatively, nip down to Halfords & let them fit it for a small charge
