G13BB crank nose damage / help was created by djaychela
OK, so I've bought an early Jimny that was cheap because it had an engine problem... which has turned out to be that the crankshaft cambelt pulley was loose, so it's made a bit of a mess. The woodruff keyway was pretty badly damaged, (as was the key), but in addition the pulley itself is worn, and this is why I'm looking for some information.

The engine runs brilliantly, and I've effected a temporary repair to keep the cam timing accurate (which where it was slipping around was leading to intermittent power loss) - it's dead quiet and there's not much else wrong with it. But where the pulley has worn, the crankshaft "shoulder" is also worn, and not in an even way - it's "lumpy", so not easy to get the pulley back where it should be - indeed, impossible, IMO, without what I'm planning:

So I have a plan - whip the engine out, and get the crank out, and then get the unevenly worn shoulder ground to be flat. Get a new pulley, and get an accurately ground spacer made up to get the pulley sat where it should be. I've looked around and the cheapest I've found an engine available is £300 (from someone on here); while I don't know how much the pulley will cost (£50?), the grinding will be about £20, and the spacer about the same. Other than that it's just sump gasket and front and rear oil seals to put in, so I think it'll be more like £100 to do (ignoring labour, but I'm doing it myself, so that's no worries).

Anyway - the info I need is the standard distance from the front of the crankshaft nose to the first "shoulder" - i.e. the shoulder on which the crankshaft cambelt pulley sits. With this info I'll be able to get the grinding done to a suitable size to allow the spacer to be made from ground stock, saving a few quid and making it nice and accurate.

I've attached a diagram of the measurement I'm after (shown as X), so if anyone does know it this would make the job much easier, unless anyone has a better suggestion, such as having a free crank and bottom pulley to give me!

That's a thought yes I could. Do you need the full bottom pulley or just the bit the cambelt runs round? Also does yours have the crank sensor in the front of the sump or not as there are 2 different inner pulleys depending on whether you do or don't

Cheers
